300 Years of Surface Expertise

The plant premises on Beneckeallee 40 was gradually being transformed into an event location to tell the story of around 300 years of surface expertise. The surface specialist, which is part of the Continental Corporation, is celebrating the company’s birthday over four days under the slogan “300 Years of Ideas Beyond Surfaces” in Hanover together with colleagues from around the world, neighbors, customers and high-caliber guests from the worlds of politics and business. “We've never done anything like this before,” says Dr. Dirk Leiss, who is responsible for Continental’s surface segment. “But a company birthday of this magnitude is something really special, which is why I would love as many people as possible to celebrate with us.”

Program with top-class guests

The kick-off event already featured a podium discussion for invited guests from the worlds of politics and business as well as from the company, in which the Continental CEO, Dr. Elmar Degenhart, and ContiTech member of the Executive Board, Hans-Jürgen Duensing, sat alongside the Minister for Economics in Lower Saxony, Dr. Bernd Althusmann, and the Mayor of Hanover, Stefan Schostok. On the following day, experts gave a variety of specialist presentations on state-of-the-art surface technologies and demonstrated innovative developments on selected exhibits. Three exhibition containers with different themes not only describe the company's 300-year history during the whole event, but also showcase what has made the company so successful over all these years: people, products, possibilities.

On June 8, between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., the plant will then open its gates to the public. “As a production location surrounded by a residential area that has built over the decades, we are always happy to answer any questions our neighbors may have,” says Dr. Leiss. Company employees will give visitors the opportunity to talk to them directly and find out more. “We want our neighbors to know that we act responsibly and take their concerns seriously.”

From fashion show to family day

300 Years of Surface Expertise

To make young professionals aware of the company as an attractive employer, students from selected disciplines will have the opportunity at various market booths to learn about career options offered by the Continental Corporation. In addition, brief discussions about products and jobs will take place on the modern event plaza. “We relish every opportunity to showcase our qualities for talented young professionals,” says Dr. Leiss. In the run-up, the company invited fashion design students to a competition to design creative clothing using its own surface materials. These will be presented to the public in a fashion show. The final day of the event will be spent in the company of our entire workforce as well as representatives from all 15 locations worldwide.
