The Background:

Larger, stronger, more effective: Whether in construction machines, vehicle manufacturing, heavy haulers or in numerous other areas with hydraulic applications – the requirements for assemblies are increasing relentlessly. The requirements must be satisfied not only by the hose lines that ContiTech Fluid Technology develop and manufacture but also in particular by the connecting elements from the hose line to the central hydraulic unit.

The Design:

To make pressure resistance of up to 500 bar possible for the nominal width of 32, an entirely new generation of couplings was developed incorporating fundamental changes in mechanics and design. Each individual part had to be engineered for the higher load; flow rates and characteristics were optimized to such an extent that, with a small outer diameter, high volume flow is possible without significant loss of pressure. In addition, the risk that seals could be washed out had to be eliminated.

The Result:

With its pressure resistance up to 500 bar, the DRACON maximum pressure hydraulic coupling with a small outer diameter exceeds by far current market standards. It is unaffected by hard pressure surges and oscillations that can arise in construction machinery hydraulics, for instance. To secure the attachment reliably under system pressure, the coupling is designed as a quick-connect screw coupling.
