Already a globally trusted and highly competent printing blanket manufacturer, ContiTech Elastomer Coatings is now entering the flexo printing market. The company will present its new product portfolio at the ProFlex flexo printing fair in Stuttgart from September 20 to 21, 2011.

“ContiTech benefits from its comprehensive expertise in the offset printing business, and thanks to a brand-new process developed in-house, the company is now in a position to manufacture flexo printing plates for flexible packaging by the roll, on an industrial scale and without the use of solvents,” explains Armin Senne, Flexo Printing Business Manager with ContiTech Elastomer Coatings. “This gives ContiTech a crucial edge on the market, and not just when it comes to environmental friendliness,” he continues. “ContiTech will be able to tailor its product to individual customer requirements, in terms of both product thickness and order size, while ensuring an outstanding price-performance ratio.”

Printing plates for all applications

With its flexo printing plates CONTI® Laserline CSX and CSC, CONTI® Laserline CCX for direct printing on corrugated board, and CSL coating plate, ContiTech Elastomer Coatings caters to a wide market.
Unlike the CONTI® Laserline CSX, the CONTI® Laserline CSC printing plate has an integrated compressible layer, which does away with the need for expensive foam adhesive tapes during mounting. “ContiTech’s new product range means considerable cost savings for printers who want to cut out expensive adhesives,” says Senne.

Both plates consist of one EPDM cover layer, which can be engraved directly. This opens up a whole new range of applications. On top of this, both plate models are dimensionally stable, resistant to swelling when used with aggressive ink systems and offer high resolution in engraving. Further advantages include consistently high-quality printing, reduced press chatter thanks to integrated compressible substructures, as well as optimal ink transfer of both water and alcohol-based inks and UV inks. Senne also highlights the products’ long service life and low abrasive wear, which help to make all CONTI® Laserline flexo printing plates significantly more durable than many of their peer products.

Solutions for direct printing on corrugated board and coating plates The CONTI® Laserline CCX with a peel off print layer has been specifically developed by ContiTech Elastomer Coatings for direct printing on corrugated board. The integrated compressible layer helps to minimize any washboard effect on all commonly used types of corrugated board. Like its sister products, this printing plate is dimensionally stable, and offers consistency in print quality, optimal ink transfer, particularly for water-based inks, and high resolution in engraving.

The CONTI® Laserline CSL coating plate is designed to ensure efficient production of coating formats. It has an integrated removable layer which is optimized for application of the coating. This coating plate is suitable for all current coating systems, including UV ink systems.
