Innovations for Efficient and Sustainable Agriculture

Hanover, October 2011ContiTech at Agritechnica • Rubber solutions protect humans, the environment and the sensitive harvest

From November 15 to 19, innovations for efficient and sustainable agriculture production take center stage at ContiTech's booth (H07 in hall 26) at the world's largest agricultural technology trade fair, Agritechnica, in Hanover. Rubber – a material of the future – forms the basis for the solutions this technological company offers. They help reduce the burden on humans and the environment and protect the sensitive harvest.

SCR lines

Alongside its tried and tested SCR lines, ContiTech now also offers an advanced second generation version with heated quick connectors.

With the new generation of SCR (selective catalytic reduction) heatable hose line modules for exhaust gas purification, ContiTech Fluid Technology goes a long way in rendering agricultural machinery eco-friendlier. The SCR process can reduce emissions of environmentally damaging nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons by up to 80% and soot particle emissions by up to 40%. ContiTech also offers numerous solutions for significantly increasing the efficiency of air-conditioning systems – while at the same time reducing the amount of coolant used and the weight. Use of the inner heat exchanger (IHE) alone ups efficiency by around 5%. Optimizing the internal diameters of the air-conditioning lines and minimizing pressure losses in the new ECO AC system can open the way to additional benefits. With the MUTEX textile-reinforced suspension hose, ContiTech has also developed a product that increases volume capacity enough to absorb oil-pump-induced pressure peaks. This has a damping effect in tractors and elsewhere.

IHE

Use of the internal heat exchanger (IHE) developed by ContiTech can by itself boost efficiency by around 5%. It employs a simple thermodynamic effect to further cool the refrigerant without increasing energy consumption.

Drive belts from the ContiTech Power Transmission Group are energy-efficient and maintenance-free, This has made them an indispensable component in modern agricultural machinery. ContiTech's has a wide range of industrial timing belts, V-belts and V-ribbed belts for diverse applications.

Greater flexibility thanks to round baler belts
The ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group supplies belts for round balers. These belts make room for more variation in the size of the bales formed than is the case with fixed chamber balers, the long-time favorite. Insofar, they support the trend toward smaller-scale farming and diversely cultivated fields. Round balers employ just three belts instead of six. This increases flexibility.

D-types from ContiTech

The four stud bolts in the new D-types from ContiTech make for an extremely strong attachment. A comprehensive model range paves the way to a wide diversity of applications.

Safe and long-lasting air springs
The products supplied by ContiTech Air Spring Systems let mobile agricultural machinery achieve high speeds on roads and fields. They afford the best possible riding comfort, even when the machinery is operating without a load. Used on vehicle trailers, they ensure gentle transport of fruit and vegetables. ContiTech's new D-types with detachable connection parts expand the range of air actuators for stationary agricultural technology such as transportation and distribution machines for crops and feed. They are available in eight different sizes, each one with one-, two- or three-convolution bellows. The positive-locking welding on the four external bolts makes for secure, heavy-duty attachment, even under the toughest operating conditions. In addition, the product can be dismantled into its individual parts. This makes it easier if any part have to be replaced.

Maintenance-free rubber-to-metal-bonded components from ContiTech Vibration Control absorb percussions and structure-borne sound, insulate machine vibration, reduce acceleration and provide protection from noise. In addition to enhancing comfort and safety in vehicles, they ensure the functionality and durability of equipment in numerous other applications.
