First-class technology with comprehensive service – these are ContiTech's central topics at Automechanika 2010 (September 14 - 19). As a partner to dealerships and workshops, with over 111 years of experience in the field of drive belts and more than 55 years of experience with air springs, ContiTech supports customers in day-to-day work with a tailor-made program: from sophisticated technical products and expert advice to a wide range of online information and workshop training courses throughout Europe. In Frankfurt, ContiTech will be presenting drive belt solutions and air spring systems for the replacement market in hall 2.0, booth C 36.

The ContiTech Power Transmission Group will be showcasing two new installation aids for workshops: The CONTI® TOOL BOX ASIAN CARS ensures the professional replacement of timing belts, especially on Asian vehicles, and helps mechanics to avoid errors. It was conceived as an ideal complement to the CONTI® TOOL BOX.

In addition to this, engineers will also be impressed by the simple handling of the new CONTI® UNI-TOOL ELAST. "The universal tool for installing and removing elastic V-ribbed belts allows car experts to change belts quickly, easily and professionally on a variety of vehicle applications," explains Helmut Engel, head of Automotive Aftermarket for the ContiTech Power Transmission Group. It also has an extra advantage for workshops: No expensive special tools need be purchased from the manufacturer. ContiTech has also introduced ten more timing belt kits and 14 water pump kits, as well as solutions with torsional vibration dampers, primarily for French vehicles.

In Frankfurt ContiTech Air Spring Systems is showing a practical complete solution for the open replacement business in the commercial vehicle market: air spring modules for cab suspension in which the hydraulic shock absorber has already been integrated. “The advantage of these systems is that their components are tuned to each other as a unit and with regards to quality," explains Dirk Hoffmeister, head of the Commercial Vehicle Replacement segment at ContiTech. "A high quality air spring needs a high quality shock absorber." The air spring modules are being marketed under the Phoenix brand – ContiTech Air Spring Systems' high quality brand for the replacement market – and will be presented for the first time at Automechanika.

In addition, the air spring specialist is premiering a new system for the Mercedes Actros that will be launched for the open replacement market as well starting in 2011. The air spring system has a plastic beveled plate vulcanized into it instead of a conventional one made of steel, which cuts the weight. The beveled plate is used to attach an air spring. The weight savings translate to a higher payload for the fleet operator and helps reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the plastic beveled plate does not corrode, which cuts maintenance costs.
